Washington, D.C. – The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and the Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN) submitted recommendations to the House and Senate Committees on Agriculture today, urging Congress to include important energy efficiency and clean energy provisions in the Farm Bill during the 2023-2024 reauthorization process.
“BCSE and CEBN encourage Congress to include legislation in the Farm Bill that will support economic development, energy efficiency and clean energy jobs, and resilience in rural communities,” said BCSE President Lisa Jacobson. “According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, agriculture is responsible for about 11 percent of U.S. climate pollution. These investments in clean energy programs are crucial to driving down emissions, advancing the energy transition, and building a more sustainable economy.”
“Rural clean energy programs in the Farm Bill have provided the means for agriculture-based entrepreneurs to benefit their communities through investments in many sectors, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and biofuels,” said CEBN President Lynn Abramson. “Already, the clean energy transition is underway in all 50 states. Robust funding for energy efficiency and clean energy programs will bring new jobs to rural America and help farmers, ranchers, and small businesses save money.”
