SolarAPP+ Reduces Solar Permitting Process by 150,000 Business Days, Reports CleanTechnica

Solar energy is becoming an increasingly popular and cost-effective alternative to traditional sources of electricity. However, one of the biggest barriers to widespread adoption of solar power has been the lengthy and cumbersome permitting process required for installation. In an effort to streamline this process and make it easier for businesses to go solar, the SolarAPP+ program was launched.

According to a recent report by CleanTechnica, SolarAPP+ has successfully reduced the solar permitting process by an impressive 150,000 business days. This is a significant achievement that will not only save businesses time and money, but also help to accelerate the transition to clean, renewable energy.

The SolarAPP+ program was developed by the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in collaboration with the solar industry and local governments. It is a free, web-based platform that allows solar installers to quickly and easily design and submit permit applications for rooftop solar installations. By automating many of the steps involved in the permitting process, SolarAPP+ eliminates much of the paperwork and back-and-forth communication that can cause delays.

In addition to reducing the time it takes to get a solar installation approved, SolarAPP+ also helps to ensure that installations are done safely and in compliance with local building codes. The program includes built-in checks and balances to verify that designs meet all necessary requirements, which can help to prevent costly mistakes and delays down the line.

Overall, SolarAPP+ is a game-changer for the solar industry. By simplifying and speeding up the permitting process, it makes it easier for businesses to take advantage of the many benefits of solar energy. With more and more companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint and lower their energy costs, programs like SolarAPP+ are essential for driving the transition to a clean energy future.
