GreenBiz reports that a carbon removal startup has secured a $53 million contract.

Carbon removal has become a hot topic in recent years as the world grapples with the effects of climate change. One startup that is making waves in this field is CarbonCure Technologies, which recently secured a $53 million contract to help remove carbon from the atmosphere.

GreenBiz reports that CarbonCure Technologies has developed a unique process that injects carbon dioxide (CO2) into concrete during the mixing process. This not only helps to reduce the amount of CO2 emitted during the production of concrete, but it also helps to sequester carbon in the concrete itself.

The company’s technology has already been adopted by a number of major construction firms, including Balfour Beatty, which used CarbonCure’s technology in the construction of a new hospital in Scotland. The company has also partnered with major cement producers, such as LafargeHolcim and CEMEX, to help reduce their carbon footprint.
