CLRS Celebrates New Housing for People with Disabilities with Donated Solar Systems

Media release

The not-for-profit organisation Community Living & Respite Services (CLRS) has completed its fifth ‘Opening Doors Project’, which provides specialist housing for people with disabilities. These new homes also feature donated solar systems, reducing long-term energy costs.

Opening Doors Project

CLRS, accredited to provide disability services in Echuca, Moama, and surrounding districts, is registered with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Over the past decade, the “Opening Doors Project” has built homes for 22 people, offering safe, nurturing environments and professional support to foster independence and community connection.

Long-term CLRS supporter AWM Echuca, along with key donors, provided solar systems for the new homes. Contributions included inverters from GoodWe, solar panels from Jinko, and installation services from Ryan Moorhouse of RGM Electrical. AWM and RGM Electrical also donated the value of the government Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) back to CLRS.

Providing access to safe housing

CLRS CEO, Leah Taffe, remarked:
“There is a population of people with disabilities here in Northern Victoria that need access to a safe and secure home environment, along with essential care to progress personal goals and develop skills, increasing independence at home and in the community. Through the generous support of individuals and local businesses, we aim to continue our Opening Doors project in building high-quality, purpose-built homes that are easy to maintain and provide those in need with a home that suits their needs and promotes growth and independence for the best quality of life possible.”

“GoodWe are passionate about giving back to the community as often as possible and in as many diverse ways as we can. We are thankful to AWM Echuca for the opportunity to support the amazing work of CLRS by making this donation, along with other fantastic support from Jinko Solar and RGM Electrical. We hope to continue to support them through future Opening Doors projects.”
