The digital platform has implemented a new partnership with the UK electric vehicle network, creating a more comprehensive product.
APCOA operates more than 750 electric vehicle [EV] charge points at locations across the country. These range from 160 at Reading railway station, to two units at King William Car Park, Hull.
Zapmap will now carry a range of information on these facilities, including real time reports on availability, charger types and speeds based on compatibility with the model of a user’s vehicle.
‘APCOA’s live data partnership with Zapmap is another positive step in the direction of a more sustainable future, making it easier for EV drivers to plan their journeys and use real time information to inform their decisions,’ said APCOA’s Regional Managing Director UK&I and Group ESG Director, Kim Challis.
With an ever-increasing network of chargers across the UK, supported by a 24/7 manned customer service centre, APCOA parking and charging solutions are a convenient and reliable choice for customers,’ they continued.
Electric vehicle charge points are a major concern to policymakers and campaigners in the UK. Currently, the country has just over 62,000 installed at around 32,000 locations. In order to meet projected demand by 2030, the country will need more than 300,000.
However, as Environment Journal reported last week, sales of EVs have been slowing in Britain and many other European countries,mo reflecting a curtail in household spending that has followed successive economic crises and wage stagnation since the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, Greater Manchester is the UK region that has seen the highest number of EV registrations, with 1,045,910 added to the DVLA’s database between 2009 and 2023. This is around 10% of the UK total.
