3 Electric Buses Catch Fire at Ahmedabad Depot – E-Vehicle Info

Early Tuesday morning, a fire broke out at Ahmedabad’s Vastral bus depot, catching fire to three electric buses. These buses, part of the Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), were being charged when the fire started in one bus and spread quickly to two others and their charging units. Thankfully, there were no injuries or casualties reported, but the buses and charging equipment suffered significant damage due to the intense blaze.

An AMC official informed:

”Today midnight at Vastral depo, during charging process one E bus got fire and 2 other buses parked nearer also caught fire. All 3 buses were completely damaged by fire. Chargers were also damaged.  No one is injured. After the fire department and police inquiry, the exact reason will be known. But apparently during charging it happened.”

Damage and Impact

The fire caused extensive damage, rendering the electric buses and their charging infrastructure unusable. Authorities from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation are investigating the cause of the fire to determine whether it was caused by a technical issue or other factors. This incident underscores the importance of strict safety measures and regular maintenance checks for electric vehicle charging stations to prevent such incidents in the future.
