MINI Australia has announced buyers will only pay a $2000 premium over the MINI Cooper E three-door when its all-new 2025 MINI Aceman lands late this year priced from $55,990 plus on-roads.
Announcing just two versions of MINI’s baby SUV will be offered in our market, the new Aceman has been price positioned $9000 lower than its next SUV, the battery-electric MINI Countryman E ($64,990).
If the entry Aceman E Classic is too basic for your tastes, another $5000 buys the Aceman SE ‘Favoured’ (yep, that’s a trim), but you get more than just extra kit.
Instead of the Acemen E’s modest 135kW/290Nm e-motor and 42.6kWh lithium-ion battery, the SE gets a punchier 160kW/330Nm e-motor and bigger 54.2kWh battery that provides a longer 406km WLTP-verified range, compared to the entry car’s rather lowly 310km.
While the Aceman E launches from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds, the more powerful Aceman SE sprints to the same in 7.1 seconds.
The bigger battery can also be topped up at a higher 95kW rate (versus 75kW) but it’s the cheaper car that is faster to go from 10-80 per cent. It takes 28 minutes, compared to the 31 minutes for the Aceman SE, but of course the latter will gain more range in that time.
Measuring 4079mm long, 1754mm wide and 1514mm tall, with a 2606mm wheelbase, the Aceman’s boot is a cramped 300L. With second row seats folded there’s 1005L offered.
Equipment levels are high. The entry Aceman E Classic bags LED lamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, a 9.4-inch circular infotainment, adaptive cruise control, heated sport seats, park assist, 360-degree camera, six-speaker sound system, sat nav with augmented reality, panoramic roof, sports steering wheel and piano black trim.
Running MINI’s latest Operating System 9 software, owners will be able to download apps, including video games that you play while stationary charging.
The SE Favoured (+$5000) adds a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, heated electric John Cooper Works sport seats with memory, tinted glass, a black headliner, silver interior trim and vegan-friendly leather upholstery.
On the move the Acemen comes with eight driving modes – Core, Green, Go-Kart, Personal, Timeless, Vivid, Balance and Trail that all alter the ambient lighting, screen graphics and soundtrack.
Both versions get the car-maker’s latest on-board Personal Assistant that can handle natural-speak voice commands and learn day-to-day tasks like automatically dropping the window at a car park you regularly visit.
When the MINI Aceman arrives in the fourth quarter of this year the British brand says it will be protected by a five year/unlimited warranty.
