10 Auto Brands That Craft the Finest Automobiles in the Business – Tesla Tale

The best car brands on the market have produced vehicles that have withstood the test of time. These brands have solidified their reputations by making quality cars with excellent driving performance, reliability, and safety. Even more, the buyers of these brands are consistently satisfied with their purchases, further underscoring the quality of these makes and models. 

There is some configuration and testing to discover which brands produce the best cars. Consumer Reports’ rankings are based on a combination of driving performance, safety, and durability factors. The average Overall Score of the vehicles reflects these factors. 

In 2023, several vehicles scored at or above 80 points, with a few ranging between 75-80 points. Even more, of the 34 cars tested, only seven brands are wholeheartedly recommended, according to Consumer Reports. You can confidently buy any model from one of these seven brands. However, there are still ten brands that rank above 75 points, and even if not all of their models have the stamp approval, you can still rest assured that you’re buying one of the best car brands. 

BMW – 82 Score

Bavarian Motor Works, better known as BMW, offers a combination of luxury and performance. In 2023, BMW scored 82 points, and based on testing, Consumer Report recommends every model from the brand. This German automaker designs sedans, wagons, coupes, convertibles, and SUVs. Recently, BMW released some electric models, such as the i3 hatchback. The BMW 2-Series and 4-Series continue to be fan favorites. But rest assured, based on BMW’s rankings, you can’t go wrong with any model from this brand.

Porsche – 80 Score

Porsche, founded in 1931, is recognized as a renowned luxury brand. Since its origin, the Porsche brand quickly made a name for itself, rising through the ranks and solidifying itself as a highly respected luxury brand in the automotive industry. With a score of 80, Consumer Reports recommends any model from the Porsche brand. However, the Porsche 911 and Porsche Cayenne continued to be revered models from this brand. 

Subaru – 80 Score

Subaru is tied with the Porsche brand at 80 points. Unlike BMW and Porsche, Subaru is not a luxury brand. However, Subaru still has a dedicated following. The brand produces excellent all-wheel drive off-road vehicles, which are great cars for families and individuals alike. You can drive on and off-road with these cars, and they’ll hold up well against the various challenges. However, not all of the brand’s models are recommended for purchase.

Honda – 78 Score

Honda has earned several awards for its reliability and fuel efficiency. The Honda brand is all-around good, which is evident in its receiving “Best Overall Brand” and “Best Value Brand” awards. Over ten years, Honda has won around 20 awards, marking it a household name in the automotive industry. The Honda Civic and Honda Accord are two of the most popular models from the brand, but any of their models are expected to withstand the test of time. 

Lexus – 78 Score

Lexus is part of Toyota’s luxury division, automatically securing it as a brand known for exceptional craftsmanship and reliability. Not all Lexus models are created equal, so diligent research is always encouraged. By and large, Lexus pairs a luxury driving experience with advanced technology. Models like Lexus ES and Lexus RX continue to remain popular models.

In 1996, BMW acquired the MINI brand, which immediately demonstrates the strengths of the brand. To no surprise, MINI is considered a luxury brand. Although MINI is owned by BMW, MINI Coopers and other models from the brand are all produced by MINI—which exists as its brand. Any make from the MINI brand has the stamp approval.

Kia – 78 Score

Kia is a very affordable brand, and the models produced are all highly reliable, with projected low maintenance costs in the vehicles’ first ten years. It is known as Korea’s oldest vehicle manufacturer and the second-largest automobile manufacturer in Korea. Affiliated with its parent company, Hyundai, the Kia brand has made a name for itself as a solid brand. J.D. Power named Kia the most reliable mass-market manufacturer in 2021, 2022, 2023. Any of the models from Kia are noted as a solid option.

Mazda – 77 Score

This Japanese brand launched in 1931, and since its inception, Mazda has transformed the automotive industry. The brand gained recognition early on as a racing car but quickly advanced. The “Zoom-Zoom” driving philosophy combines customer commitment with driving comfort and safety. All of the Mazda models receive the stamp of approval, but the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Mazda 3 are some popular options to consider. 

Toyota – 77 Score

Toyota is recognized as one of the world’s largest automakers, and due to their notoriety, they have crafted a reputation known for reliability, durability, and efficiency. Although Consumer Report scored Toyota at 77 points—with a 3-point drop from 2022—the brand continues to produce great vehicles. However, some of Toyota’s models perform better than others, so it’s wise to research before becoming a dedicated Toyota fan. 

Hyundai – 76 Score

Although Hyundai’s child company, Kia, is ranked higher on the Consumer Report’s list, Hyundai has gained three points since 2022’s ratings. Hyundai is a very affordable brand, but it can struggle alongside some of its competitors. However, the Elantra and Santa Fe SUVs are excellent options from the Hyundai brand.
